Aber war die XC12 nicht ohnehin nur ein Gerät von Phonemark, auf das Atari dann das eigene Logo hat pappen lassen? Also wäre die XL12 ein Clone von einem Clone?

Ja richtig 😁 !
Darum ist das hier ja so interessant, weil da irgendeine andere Bude die Phonemark´s hergenommen hat und ATARI´s Umlabelung für sich selbst "adaptiert" hat 😉 .
Selbst das Handbuch sieht aus wie das von ATARI original ausgelieferte.
Auf der Verpackung steht: Made in Taiwan, aber keine Ahnung wer das war, das kann evtl. auch irgendwo aus Südamerika kommen,
von da stammen meines Wissen nach auch einige Clones von ATARI Produkten.....

There are many different variants of the Phonemark program recorder made. Anyone who wanted to sell program recorders could order a shipment from Phonemark. Just like a.o. the Seikosha GP500 ( =Atari 1029, Commodore MPS801 and about 10 other brands).
Here is an image of my collection of Phonemark Atari program recorders. I did not include the XC12 as everyone already knows it 😉

You can see there was also a German variant using the name "Turbo-Data". The Phonemark one with the British mains plug is, in my opinion, quite special because it did not draw power from the computer. Most of these Phonemark "for Atari" program recorders were sold in Poland.
The same program recorder also excists (in many variants too) for a.o. the Commodore 64 and the MSX computer.
Oh.... 250 Euro is ridiculous 😀

I saw, you have also a "For" ATARI" XC12 Clone, called "CA12" - which look similar to the "XL12 Clone" - in your collection 😁

Correct, but there are even more.
Also excisting are: XCA12, XG12 and XC13 (and who knows how many more 😉 )

Was man so alles erfährt? Ich kannte bislang nur die XC11 (?!?) und XC12 Programmrekorder und dachte immer, daß es Atari-eigene Produkte wären! Daß es verschiedene Ausführungen des kompakteren Programmrekorders (erkennbar an unterschiedlichen Kassettenfächern) gab wußte ich anhand von Bildern schon, da aber die Typenbezeichnung nicht auf solchen erkennbar war, dachte ich bisher: das sind Geräte aus verschiedenen Serien der XC12!
